Our Programs

The African American/Black population experiences the greatest magnitude of health disparities by race and ethnicity, both nationally and in Colorado.
- (Office of Health Disparities, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, 2009)

This disturbing statistic is the basis for our work in creating health equity.
Our Kick Butt™ and Hand-N-Hand™ health and wellness programs are created to make health behavior changes a bit easier to accomplish. The design of our health and wellness programs put the participant in the driver’s seat.  We encourage and support the development of personal self-care plans as the catalyst for behavior change. We give you the tools and we support you as you take the leadership role!

Kick Butt™ Tobacco Cessation Program

Our program uses the Civic Engagement Model as a means to help participants move toward tobacco cessation. Our program is absolutely free and is designed to be convenient for each individual.

Here is how the program works:
•    Participants participate in a scheduled, team volunteer project with The Kaleidoscope Project staff
•    Two weeks after the volunteer project, all participants reconvene to debrief the experience of volunteerism and its connection to personal health
•    Through guided discussion and education, participants then develop their own personal self-care plans
•    Using evidence-based tools and resources to support participants, the self-care plan creates the roadmap for tobacco cessation
To date, over 600 people have completed tobacco reduction programming utilizing the Civic Engagement Model.  To date, 96% of people completing the program have become actively engaged in tobacco cessation initiatives.
